I grew up in a member church of Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority. I understand how long evangelical Christians have heard they're going to be jailed and killed for their faith. I heard about the "evils" of abortion and homosexuality ad nauseum when I was growing up.

It took over a decade of hard work to deprogram this thinking. It's walking away from cult-like tactics. Like you, I am aghast at how professing Christians can vote for the hellscape we've lived for the past four years, but this dogma is deeply, deeply ingrained. People are taught not to think or question anything that doesn't line up with the dogma. It's maddening.
